The Breakdown of Intergenerational Dialogue in the Black Diaspora: A Garveyite Perspective
Introduction: The Crisis of Intergenerational Communication
One of the greatest challenges facing the Black Diaspora today is the growing disconnect between older and younger generations. This breakdown of intergenerational dialogue has weakened Black unity, disrupted the transmission of knowledge, and left many young people without a solid foundation in Black history, identity, and self-determination.
From a Garveyite perspective, this problem is not just a family or community issue—it is a deliberate product of systemic oppression aimed at keeping Black people divided, disorganized, and disconnected from their own historical wisdom.
Understanding and repairing intergenerational dialogue is crucial because it represents:
Black historical continuity – The knowledge of our ancestors must be passed down to empower future generations.
Black community strength – A unified people can not be easily manipulated or destroyed.
Black self-determination – When young people embrace the wisdom of their elders, they build institutions and movements that uplift the entire race.
If the breakdown of communication between Black generations continues, then the legacy of Black liberation struggles will be lost, and each generation will be forced to “start over” instead of building upon the successes of the past.
1. The Causes of the Breakdown in Intergenerational Dialogue
A. The Impact of Colonization, Enslavement, and Cultural Erasure
For centuries, colonial and white supremacist systems have sought to erase Black historical knowledge by cutting off younger generations from their ancestors’ wisdom.
During slavery, African families were deliberately separated, breaking down the transmission of cultural traditions.
In the colonial and post-colonial eras, European education systems devalued African ways of knowing, making many Black elders internalize the idea that their knowledge was “primitive” or “irrelevant.”
Example: The erasure of African languages and spiritual systems under colonial rule prevented Black people from passing down their full cultural and historical identity.
Key Takeaway: Without a strong foundation in their own history, younger Black generations struggle to build meaningful connections to their roots.
B. The Rise of Individualism and the Decline of Collective Identity
Black liberation movements have historically been based on collectivism—the idea that the success of one Black person is tied to the success of all Black people.
However, Western capitalist and neoliberal ideologies have promoted hyper-individualism, leading younger generations to focus more on personal success than community upliftment.
This shift in values has weakened Black mentorship, community building, and respect for elders, as many young people no longer see the relevance of learning from past struggles.
Example: In previous generations, elders were seen as wisdom-keepers who guided the youth, but today, older generations are often dismissed as “outdated” or “irrelevant.”
Key Takeaway: Without intergenerational connections, each new generation must struggle alone instead of benefiting from the lessons of the past.
C. The Role of Media and Miseducation in Destroying Black Unity
Mainstream media and school curriculums have contributed to the intergenerational divide by failing to teach Black history accurately and distorting Black struggles.
Many young Black people have been conditioned to see the Civil Rights Movement, Pan-Africanism, and Black Nationalism as “old” and no longer relevant.
Older generations, in turn, often struggle to relate to younger Black people’s experiences, dismissing them as “entitled” or “disrespectful.”
Example: The media glorifies entertainment and consumer culture but ignores Black scholars, activists, and historians, preventing young people from learning about their own intellectual traditions.
Key Takeaway: Black people must control their own education and media to ensure that intergenerational knowledge is preserved and respected.
2. The Consequences of Intergenerational Breakdown
A. Loss of Historical Memory and Black Identity
When younger Black generations do not learn from their elders, they lose access to ancestral wisdom, revolutionary strategies, and survival techniques.
This leaves them vulnerable to manipulation by oppressive systems, repeating the same mistakes that past generations fought to overcome.
The absence of intergenerational teaching has also led to a loss of cultural pride, as many Black youth do not see themselves as part of a larger historical struggle.
Example: Many Black youth today do not know about great Pan-African leaders like Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, and Kwame Nkrumah, leaving them disconnected from the struggle for Black liberation.
Key Takeaway: If young Black people do not learn from the past, they will be forced to learn painful lessons that could have been avoided.
B. Weakening of Black Political and Economic Movements
Without strong intergenerational mentorship, Black organizations and movements struggle to sustain themselves.
Many Black-led movements today face the same obstacles as past generations, but because history is not properly passed down, each generation has to “reinvent the wheel.”
Black economic progress has also been stalled by the lack of mentorship in business, finance, and wealth-building.
Example: While past Black communities focused on Black-owned businesses and cooperative economics, today’s Black youth are often forced to navigate capitalism alone, leading to financial instability.
Key Takeaway: Economic and political knowledge must be passed down so that future Black generations can build upon previous successes.
3. Solutions: Rebuilding Intergenerational Dialogue in the Black Diaspora
A. Restoring Respect for Elders and Ancestral Knowledge
Black communities must rebuild respect for elders by creating spaces for intergenerational dialogue.
Elders must also adapt their teaching methods to meet younger generations where they are, using modern technology, social media, and creative storytelling.
Black elders should take active roles in mentorship programs, passing down knowledge about Black history, economics, and self-determination.
Example: Community centres, churches, and grassroots organizations should create Elders Councils to guide Black youth in politics, business, and culture.
Key Takeaway: Black elders and youth must work together to restore the tradition of knowledge transmission.
B. Decolonizing Black Education and Media
Black people must take control of their education systems, ensuring that Black history and knowledge are taught in schools, families, and online spaces.
Black-owned media platforms must elevate Black scholars, historians, and activists, rather than just celebrities and entertainers.
Black families must prioritize African-centered education, teaching children about Pan-Africanism, Black Nationalism, and economic self-sufficiency.
Example: Black communities should invest in Black homeschooling cooperatives, online Black history courses, and African cultural institutions.
Key Takeaway: A miseducated Black youth is a lost generation—education that must be reclaimed by Black hands.
C. Rebuilding Collective Economic and Political Power
Older and younger generations must work together to rebuild Black economic independence, creating Black mentorship programs in business, finance, and trade.
Intergenerational activism must be revived, bringing elders and youth into political movements together to demand justice and self-determination.
Black communities must establish financial literacy programs, land ownership initiatives, and cooperative economics to sustain generational wealth.
Example: Black organizations must create Elders-Youth Councils where young Black entrepreneurs are mentored by seasoned business leaders.
Key Takeaway: Economic self-sufficiency and political power can not exist without strong intergenerational cooperation.
Conclusion: Will We Rebuild the Bridge Between Black Generations?
Marcus Garvey said:
“A people without knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots.”
Will Black people restore intergenerational dialogue, or allow our history to be erased?
Will we honour our elders and learn from their struggles, or continue to repeat the same mistakes?
Will we build strong Black institutions together, or remain divided across generational lines?
The Choice is Ours. The Time is Now.

I should probably make a proper introduction post so here goes
Hi hey hello wassup sup howdy hola hooray
My name is Leo but I also go by *lists a ton of names because I am genderfluid as hell, can’t choose just one, have a complicated relationship with my irl name, and eventually toss aside every name I go by* here’s the link to my full name post: https://www.tumblr.com/cyberr-v0id/731097944976228352/ok-so-as-i-apparently-use-a-lot-of-names-here-are
My main blog is @cyberr-v0id but I have a ton of side blogs, because who’s gonna stop me, the side blog police? I run a ton of gimmick blogs. You might know them. You might not.
I use he/she/they/fae and occasionally it sets of pronouns, and I am a genderfluid, afab, asexual, lesbian oriented demiromantic. Deal with it or leave :)
I currently have a crush on one of my awesome friends because I only develop crushes on people I have a strong bond with and/or have know for a while . Aka: my friends. It can be low-key awkward but we roll
I am Romani but don’t travel because reasons and I am kinda detached from my culture, but heck if I won’t defend it till my last breath
Now onto what I am interested in ehhehehehe
I AM SO GOSHDARN TOTALLY BRAIN IN THE SAND EYES GOUGED OUT INSANELY OBSESSED WITH ODYSSEUS RN. ITS A PROBLEM. IT KEEPS COMING BACK. IS THIS A HYPER FIXATION??? IS THIS A SPECIAL INTEREST? I HAVENT BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH (oh wait I should probably put that down as information then come back to my interests)
Ok so, I have never been diagnosed with anything ✨brain wise✨ however pretty much every autistic person I have ever met has said that they think I might be as well, without me even bringing it up, including my AuDHD brother. My mother has said repeatedly throughout my lifetime comments such as ‘are you sure you’re not autistic’ and ‘that is very autistic or you maybe we should get you diagnosed’ but then she denies it if i bring it up
My dad thinks I am adhd, my mum thinks I would be add rather than adhd because I am, to quote, ‘not hyperactive like [brothers name] is’. He is a twelve year old boy. I am a fifteen year old girl. I also take apart all my pens in lessons if I don’t have something less destructible to fidget with. Take that how you will
I personally have done a lot of of research into the both, and feel that I could be either, but slightly more likely adhd
I have a weird issue with my feet where the bones are too close together in places, which means I have really clicky ankle joints, am much more likely to have my ankles roll, twist, or give way, and often my legs hurt pretty bad, and my feet as well, while walking or standing for a long time. But hey! They’re getting better finally :D
OK SO NOW MY INTERESTS
I AM LITERALLY SO OBSESSED WITH ODYSSEUS HE IS ALL I HACE BEEN ABLE TO THINK ABOUT FOR LIKE THREE WEEKS NOW, I HAVE BEEN HIGHLIGHTING HIS NAME EVERY TIME I SEE IT IN THE ILIAD, I HAVE LISTENED TO THE EPIC MUSICAL EVERY NIGHT FOR OVER A WEEK, AND THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND TIME THIS YEAR THAT MY OBSESSION HAS APPEARED. AND IT GETS WORSE BY THE DAY.
I HAVE LITERALLY SAT AND RESEARCHED HIM AT BREAKFAST, I HAVE RANTED ABOUT HIM YO EVERY MEMBER OF MY FRIEND GROUP AND MY CRUSH SO MANY TIMES, MY ENGLISH TEACHER HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO TWO ODYSSEUS RANTS THIS WEEK AND I HAD TO RESTRAIN MYSELF FROM INFODUMPING ON ONE OF MY MUSICAL THEATRE TEACHERS.
THE ONLY THING STOPPING ME FROM CREATING ODYSSEUS FAN ART IS MY ART SKILLS
Ahem
Onto other interests:
• mythology in general but the one I know the most about and am obsessed with the most is Greek mythology
• the owl house
• Percy Jackson, obviously
• amphibia
• the inheritance cycle
• the dragon prince
• miss peregrines home for peculiar children
•avatar the last air bender
•dragon age absolution
• how to train your dragon (books, films, series)
•the wizards of once
•dragons themself as a thing
•folklore and faeries
• nimona
•Dracula
•redwall
•and a heck ton more that I cannot think of. I’ll rant about it eventually if I love it that much
The main sports I do rn are archery, paddle boarding, and skateboarding, as well as dance through my musical theatre group. Also lightsaber fighting in my street
I do art and writing and reading and acting and lots more I do a lot and then I abandon my hobbies for a while, and jewelry making and sewing and
I’ll link some more posts here that may be useful to y’all:
And remember, this blog is ran by an Odysseus obsessed teen above all else

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9-11 for whatever Worm characters come to mind! (Or Sophia/Calvert/Taylor/Krouse if you have any thoughts!)
Fuck it. All of em for all of em.
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
Sophia: I'll be real I don't feel super strongly about her. She's written to be hateable in an effective way, but she's less of a full character than Emma despite being in much more of the story. And her shit kinda gets bogged down by racist writing (a lot of the worst of it happening right before Aisha's introduction, which is also pretty racist). She's involved in a lot of cool and interesting moments but they're rarely interesting because of her.
Coil: Works really well as the first overarching villain in Taylor's story. He's able to sell the "I'm a bad guy but in an excusable way that's not really too bad" well enough, but also has a lot of obvious red flags even before the Dinah reveal. So you can understand perfectly well why Taylor, a kid who really wanted to continue hanging out with the undersiders and do things that made her feel like she had any control, would go along with him. But you can also take a step back and say Jesus, only a kid who really wanted to continue hanging out with the undersiders and do things that made her feel like she had any control would go along with him.
Taylor: Wildbow has a reoccurring tendency to focus on characters who are both incredibly smart and can get an incredible amount of info quickly, but only in specific limited ways. Its true of Taylor, Lisa, Sylvester, Kenzie, Mia—a lot of my favorites. But the interesting thing is that they're never smart in the same ways, never collect the same sort of info. Lisa has general super-induction but no great skill at making plans. Sylvester can read and manipulate people to a superhuman level but is constantly getting blinded by his own resentments and desires. Taylor's hyper-vigilance gave her the ability to see and react to everything external around her, but no means or real incentive to know whats going on internally with people around her. And it makes sense! She's incredibly afraid of letting people in who'll end up hurting her; people who've genuinely been kind to her in the past have used their previous closeness to hurt her later! Knowing that someone doesn't mean her harm now isn't gonna reassure her, so its safer to assume everyone's a threat and not worry too much about what they're actually thinking.
And then there's Rachel, who she not only connects with emotionally, but is the only person who's able to make an emotional connection with her! And since you understand why its not the norm, its all the more incredible to see!
Krouse: oh I'm glad you asked
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
Sophia: I like that she and Lung both get wrapped back up in the end for Skitter's Gold Morning missions. I wish she got to do more in those, but I do like it as a story beat.
Coil: How high he got and how far he fell.
Taylor: Man the escape from Coil's trap is a fucking great chapter. She's a one-woman horror movie. Single-handedly sells her as a villain who'd get national attention, and its not even a moment the public knows about. And its in such a great place in the story too, where all the tricks she's using have been established so its not feeling like a weird escalation in her abilities, but she hasn't all employed them at once or to such incredible effect yet. It’s the real culmination of her taking “lessons” from Bakuda about being scary.
Krouse: One of the moments that really sold me on him was when he was getting attacked by Case 53s, and immediately started thinking about how he could take them down, before he interrupts his own thoughts to go "wait, what am I doing, I should just run away." It just sells so much of his whole deal. He's a great on-his-feat thinker, he can be an incredible strategist when he's on his own, but he also doesn't share Taylor's suicidal urge to face any problem head-on. Its kind of the inverse of one of Taylor's early establishing moments: after getting attacked by Rachel, she reaches for a reason to calm down, realizes she doesn't have one, and immediately retaliates hard enough to get blood on her boots. God they're such good foils, its weird that the extent of their relationship is mutually disliking each other. Not even intense dislike in either case.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Sophia: That the black member of the trio is the one that consistently gets physically violent, is characterized as the athletic one compared to the others in general (instead of "the cute one" or "the prep" she's "the track star"), gets described as being savage multiple times, doesn't have much of a character outside of sucking despite being in a work that's otherwise really good at giving internality to people who act shitty, all that jazz.
Coil: How little sense we got of what Calvert's dominion would really look like. That we didn't get much of his takeover without other disasters interfering actually works—it fits the themes of constant conflict interfering with stability and safety. But I still want more of a sense of what Calvert wanted.
Taylor: I didn't care about her reunification with her mom. I say a lot that the ending of Worm is one of the best endings of any story I've read, and that's true of Gold Morning as a whole, but I don't actually care much about the last epilogue. The Brian reveal certainly doesn't help there.
Krouse: Do you know how much it sucks that when people ask me who my favorite worm character is, the tumblr sexyman is in contention?
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
Sophia: any story that takes her basic parts, gets rid of the obviously shitty stuff, and develops her into a real character.
Coil: Disney Channel sitcom
Taylor: Well I already tried expy-ing Khepri into my tabletop campaign, and that got mixed results, so I'll take TTRPGs off the list. I'd be interested in her getting put in a medium where you'd have to be creative with how to represent the bug cloud, like live theater.
Krouse: I was gonna say Mob Psycho but then I remembered that they already had a guy who teleported around being a jackass. But I would like too see a well-animated version of his fighting style.
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Sophia: I'll Make You Sorry by Screaming Females
Coil: For some reason I get an Everything Everything vibe from him? Maybe Photoshop Handsome or Breadwinner.
Taylor: I don't actually read her as trans but Dysphoria Hoodie is what immediately came to mind. I'm at least theoretically still making a Cicada Days animatic about her. I think portions of BCNR's Sunglasses fits with whats going on internally with her in the Mannequin fight
Krouse: Want to make a Prowl Great Cain AMV for him one day. Lyrics fit perfectly, and the way its sung gets the same otherwise inexpressable intensity of how I feel about him. Darnielle said “This is a song about betrayal. A lot of songs about betrayal are about betrayal and redemption. Not this one.” And yeah, that's Krouse!
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
Sophia: Oh, no
Coil: It would prolly be fine except for how he'd torture a branch of my psychological continuity and then effectively kill it by destroying that reality whenever I leave the dishes out too long. Don't correct me on how his powers work
Taylor: Uhhh probably not. Even if I wasn't much older, I don't really talk to my roommates unless they're the talkative sort. She's been stuck living with clamshells before, it wasn't good for her.
Krouse: I'd have to kill him
10 and 11: alright these are "could you be best friends with" and "would you date" and in both cases the fact that I'm 23 means no. I don't have Blake's ability to form rich friendships with people much younger than me. And I'm not interested in Calvert as a friend or a lover.

so I'm gonna add the 4 main characters of my current wip to this blog (they've formerly been on @misariae) & I thought I'd start with a little fun introduction. I will not talk a lot about the worlbuilding here, so if you're interested in that i've started compiling that in a carrd or you can always just ask me ofc ^^ (perhaps there will be a post about it later on too!)
Lysander Delafose:
the actual damsell in distress & princess in the tower of the story
sucks at being a protagonist & would rather just lie in the grass (yes it's an actual scene)
he's the crown prince of Misaria & only heir of the High King, therefore he grew up very protected & barely got to see the world outside of the castle
so instead he turned to books & the adventures in them & dreamt of having his own (spoiler alert: it didn't turn out that fun irl)
while he also got lessons in combat & riding (aside from the formal education), he isn't good at either
his best friends are Achilla (we'll get to her <3) & his bodyguard Kervan
remember that scene in Tangled when Rapunzel finally does leave the tower & is torn between euphoria & despair? yeah that's Lys when he does escape from the castle in the beginning
genuinely doesn't believe he'd make a good king & actually doesn't want the crown (another spoiler alert: in the end of book 1 he does give up his title with disastrous consequences)
has to face his bisexuality in the worst way possible by falling deeply in love with Ridvan while still being in a relationship with Achilla & having to break her heart :)))
Achilla Fiore:
one of the 4 people in her generation born with the power of the elements (called the guardians) & a badass
her element is earth & it very much translates to her character: steady, loyal, practical, but it's also clear you shouldn't mess with her
was separated from her family to be trained at the age of 6 & now it left no emotional scars & she isn't far too attached to her new found family, I promise :))
she takes her vow to protect the people of Misaria very seriously, but also has to face the fact that the high king mainly uses the guardians for his own gain/for his own purposes
actually her loyalty lies fully with Lysander & not his father, for better or worse (& it will be worse)
has been Lysander's friend since their childhood (the guardians have been educated alongside the prince) & eventually it turns into a secret romance
she loves Lys deeply & he loves her, but has to discover that it isn't in the same way. when they break up it really makes Achilla lose the ground
her main arc is really about learning to regard herself as more than her powers & a weapon to be used
Ridvan Biancardi:
the rebel boi & thief who grew up mainly in the streets after his parent's early death
his moral compass is a roulette wheel, as is his sexuality
takes f*ck the monarchy a bit too literally
lots and lots of trauma™ that makes him deeply distrustful & hate the guardians & the high king specifically. does he cope with it in healthy ways? hell no
yes he still falls in love with Lys & his autistic rizz, it's beautiful & they both grow a lot bc of it (don't even get me started on them bc i won't stop)
actually only ended up in the whole mess bc he & his fellow rebels in the underground are in trouble & ironically the only hope is a lost princess
extremely stubborn & hyper-independent, to the point where he rather continues on the journey by foot after an argument, rather than staying with the group & their horses
Felice Varenza
my bad b*tch i love her <3
the lost princess I mentioned, but she was raised & manipulated by the antagonist & she's here to take the throne
"Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't" is basically her motto
befriends the main trio & earns their trust, until Lys hands her the crown & she stabs them in the back (not literally tho)

do you think in the altered future timeline the relationship between leo and chris has improved much? because watching the show post reveal and post og!chris death it seems to me that leo is driven mostly by guilt but once chris is born, baby chris is kinda relegated to second thought and not doted on and worried over as much as baby wyatt ever was. the only person who seems to put him first is piper as though she's the only one who's really learnt her lesson
i feel similarly about paige and phoebe and how they look (or don't look) after their new nephew in contrast to how protective they were/are over wyatt. leo is there for chris like piper is but ultimately i think he's still prioritizing wyatt so when we see glimpse of an adjusted chris in the altered future i'm like okay so how did we get here because i don't think the show really earns it, i don't look at leo and go he is transformed and would def put both his sons first now
Unless I'm forgetting something, I don't really think that Leo prioritized Wyatt over Chris. (The only thing coming to mind was when Chris was dying, but seeing as Gideon was the only one who could heal him, Leo had to go for both of them.) I mean, yes, there was the discussion of the unchanged future, but that wasn't current Leo, so I don't really see why he would need that character development. Tell me if I'm missing something, but I didn't really get the idea that Leo prioritized Wyatt over Chris. (More on that below bc I want to talk about their relationship in the changed future first.)
I think that Leo and Chris's relationship is definitely improved, but I think it has new and different tensions! (Who is Chris without daddy issues?) Because Leo has that regret and trauma and doesn't actually manage to overcome it, but even if he had, watching your child die in front of you is going to impact that relationship. I feel like Leo has this extreme overprotective streak that would drive Chris crazy because I mean, Chris is pretty hyper independent. From Chris's perspective, without context, it comes across as Leo thinks that Chris is less skilled and more fragile, which definitely pisses him off bc it just brushes up against the whole complex with the Twice-Blessed as an older brother. I think that he definitely takes it as a comparison thing between Wyatt being so powerful and Chris not. Mel definitely gets some overprotective tendencies as well, but I think it's easier for Chris to get over that bc a) since Mel isn't a hybrid, she can't teleport out when she gets in over her head so it makes sense to worry a little more over her and b) Mel doesn't really seek out demons with any kind of the same frequency that Chris does (and demons seek out Wyatt), her power is freezing, and both of those things mean that she doesn't actually get injured that often.
However, Chris's issue is primarily rooted in that he feels like Leo doesn't think that he's as capable of Wyatt. If it would work, it might have led to Chris trying to prove himself, but instead, it's much more on that Chris just doesn't... tell his dad when he's going demon hunting and will go out of his way to make sure that he can't find out. (I'm pretty sure that's actually how we get our introduction to Magic School library assistant/Wyatt's coworker Kaila (and future med school student) in the main series is Chris getting her to fix up a few scrapes from a demon attack instead of getting healed lmao.) It definitely upsets Chris, but it's something that he's more used to dealing with bc he's Wyatt's younger brother and a lot of people genuinely view him as less capable. It definitely vastly improves their relationship actually lmao because at least this time, it's Leo's excessive worry over him instead of indifference or apathy.
(But speaking of regret, I have an next gen series episode idea floating around my head that I'd love to do if it I can fit it into the storyline logically. A demon who takes the form of your greatest regret attacks the Halliwells, and Leo walks in during the fight and Wyatt and Melinda (who have no idea of the unchanged future or the time travel for the necessary context) see it transform into Chris. Mel might try to punch their dad. (Leo's regret is failing to save his son.))
But honestly, I think that a lot of the relational differences to Chris and to Wyatt are less in-universe and more as a result of the show overdoing it when Wyatt was a baby and not wanting to repeat basically the same exact stuff with Chris again. And I mean, even with Wyatt still getting plotlines, he's a toddler and has more storyline options than Chris (who is basically a potato at this point) does since they kind of used all of them. Plus, there's the difference that Wyatt was the firstborn so it actually makes sense that he got a lot of the "Oh God how are we gonna keep this thing alive/safe from demons" elements that weren't as necessary with Chris. That was also around the time that both Phoebe and Paige had more separate plotlines/independence in comparison, so it makes sense that they weren't as intertwined around then to me. But I think it's really mostly an out-of-universe thing bc we already did baby plotlines in all honesty.

saw a post about Jason Todd feeling off to ppl I think by user jasontoddguns ? anyway this became a bit of a rant but there's a reason for this related to that but I didn't want to derail lol
we had a running joke at my high school (more specifically, the biomed kids did) about this medical mannequin, let's call her AG
basically AG was this eerie mannequin not bc she looked like hyper realistic or scary or anything, she looked as realistic as any half decent mannequin with a face and hair and whatnot, but she would get dressed up in our uniform or very casual well fit clothes, and we never had her set up or necessarily like a mannequin
our introduction to AG was strolling to lab and seeing a collapsed student through the glass wall being checked on by our teacher for that class, we were all very concerned 13-15 year olds lol
throughout the years (but especially senior year) the many AG mannequins would get shunted around for whatever lesson or class she was needed, or just to make room for us to poke around the offices or grab hydrogen peroxide from the cabinets or whatever
sometimes they'd be left to chill outside the classroom (by which I mean inevitably ppl walk by and are startled to see what seems like a few poisoned teenagers in the hallway)
although most if not all the original freshmen were introduced to AG for a bit, only the biomed students were actually working with her and seeing her frequently; as far as the other kids were concerned, AG may as well have been a fever dream
shit got jarring for everyone senior year bc All the biomed seniors were using AG mannequins throughout the year for assorted projects, including one where we designed our own crime scene and investigation (one big hit was one of the baby mannequins being hung up and strangled by curtain chords for a child neglect case) and like the issue wasn't using AG it was that we were using AG all over the school not just the lab so everyone caught sight of our shenanigans
e.g. we'd stalk by the engineering kids (who were out and about doing engineering things) with what seemed to be an unresponsive student being fireman carried out of the building to be tossed onto the lawn for us to take pictures
now this was a big high school campus, and the kids in the other buildings had no idea about AG or the shit we were doing, so imagine the shock of being in a lecture and glancing out the large windows behind you to see like. a dead girl in the bushes getting pushed around by a group of nonchalant students

Beauty and the Beat | Part 3
Thanks for tuning in again! I also cannot for the life of me figure out the directions I want to take with this fic so I’ll keep the main story line running over here while I move my edited work over to @currentfication, so hop on over if you prefer something a little more polished and less ~chaotic~ but anyhoo I very much appreciate y’all for hanging out!
Kirsten and Latrice was grinning ear to ear when they saw CB the next morning, ready for the newest update. “We we’re just chatting, sadly no juicy gossip for y’all.” CB offered up a crumb of information, hoping that the prodding would soon cease.
“And the crowd goes mild,” Latrice complained as she rolled her eyes. “Come back to us when you have some tea to offer.”
“Well I sure hope there was no action going on last night, you haven’t forgotten about your turn to hold the workshop today have ya?” Kirsten asked.
CB shook her head no and walked them through her lesson plan for later that day, “…I’m hoping I get enough time to set up while you take your last break, I did managed to get the last workshop of the day so I’ll have plenty of time to pack up.” The other girls nodded as they follow along.
“That sounds exciting!” The duo beamed. Bada walked in at that time, curiously joining the conversation.
“What’s exciting?” She interjected.
“Eh, let’s call it a surprise, everyone has been providing insightful workshops I thought I’d do something fun for all of us tonight,” CB trailed off as the next workshop begun, ready for the gruelling challenges ahead.
Pondering for a quick moment, Bada think she has an idea of what CB’s workshop is going to be. This woman hasn’t once taken off her heels - does she not get blisters? - surely the workshop is going to be hell dance class. She’s been to a few of Redlic’s classes, so the idea of attending someone else’s heels dance class sounds fun. After all it’s not everyday that Bada gets to dance with heels on.
After six hours of practices, CB really started to doubt if putting herself last is a good idea. As her peers made their way out the room for an hour break, she dragged her duffel bag into the center of the room and initiated the process of setting up. She skilfully attached the metal pieces into one, and proceeded to secure each one to the ceiling of the studio.
When the hour long break wraps up, the dancers returned to the studio, now with eight extra metal poles. The dancers gasped, thrilled to be trying something new. Bada was no exception, curious to try the sport out herself; that is, until CB walked past and she nearly snapped her neck turning around.
To teach pole dancing, there needs to be maximum grip between the thighs and pole, hence minimum clothing on the legs. Her long legs accentuated by the heels, a litter of tattoo trailing down her legs, circled by the dragon from Spirited Away. She’s taken off the hoodie, replacing it with a oversized crop top barely covering her sports bra; the ink continued upwards, spreading through her torso and back. Bada was looking at everything else in an attempt to not be checking out her body, which proved itself hard as CB hopped onto a pole to address the group.
Bada was only half paying attention as CB introduced herself as the newest member of Jam Republic Agency, her gaze following CB as she moves around fluidly while barely clothed. It’s truly a sight, a mix of hyper femininity and masculinity alike, someone who utilised the aesthetic of both gender as well as Bada herself does. Bada can’t help but marvel at how closely their vibes resemble each other’s, yet total polar opposite at the same time.
CB noticed a staring figure towards the back of the room and came into eye contact with Bada. She chuckled and threw a wink at her, snapping the latter out of her trance. “I’m sorry I didn’t have enough poles for us today, but hopefully we can take turns and have some fun!” CB wrapped up her introduction and begun to show the group the basic lifting techniques and a few tips to avoid injury.
She went around to give out helpful advices and demonstrated how to do tricks for those that mastered the lifting skills, eventually stopping in front of Bada. Noticing her difficulty to climb, CB leaned over and whispered “I think you’re wearing too love, maybe try again without the pants?” Pointing at her baggy jeans, CB couldn’t help but tease.
“Stop teasing me, aren’t you supposed to be teaching us useful skills?” Bada pouted, fighting back a blush forming at her cheeks. CB laughed and ran off, then quickly returning with a few bags in hand.
“Meet Elordi, Gigi, and Sydney,” CB addressed each heels. “They’re PU leather and should help with the climbing.”
“First of all, just how many pairs of these do you own? Also you named them?” Bada blurted, “I don’t think I’ll fit in these.”
“It’s an open-toed size, gives you two sizes in the front and two in the back,” CB quoted her comfort show, “no but for real I’m sure you’ll be fine. Give it a try.” CB bent over and slid the shoes onto Bada, smirking when she zipped up the heels. “There you go Princess,” she continued her attempt with flirting and extended a hand to help her stand up.
Although Bada’s body control is usually superb, standing up with the heels at more than 6 feet did made her stumble forward, CB swiftly catching her in her arms. “Did you planned for this too?” The dancer asked jokingly as she straightened herself from CB’s embrace.
“Oh absolutely. May I have this dance, Princess?” CB resumed her flirting when Bada found her balance. The dancer have such lovely lashes from this angle, the flirt quickly pointed that out to her.
“Eh I don’t know, maybe I’m too tall for heels,” Bada whined, uncomfortable at the proximity to the ceiling.
“Nonsense, all girls need at least a pair of good heels, makes changing lightbulb a hell lot easier.” She jokingly finished, but dead serious about the part where all women deserves to feel like a girl once in a while. The dancer’s tensed shoulders eased a little as she took a few more steps. “Now you should be able to climb without needing to strip off - although I would very much like to see that.”
Bada was surprised that the PU leather did indeed helped with the climbing, and CB muttered something along the line of ‘I’m always right’ before walking off to the other dancers, assisting where needed.
When the workshop wrapped up, most dancers were still having fun spinning on the poles. CB decided to leave for a quick smoke before packing the metal poles down, allowing the dancers to have a little more fun.
After a short blunt, CB returned to Akanen and Ling rallying the girls up for a strip show. The girls have borrow Sydney and Elordi, respectively, and have set up seats in front of the poles.
“LET’S GOOOOO!!! SERVE CUNTTTTTT!!!” CB cheered on the girls as they are wilding amongst themselves to Saweetie’s Best Friend. Someone has turned off the lights to the studio, and the make shift stage is illuminated by phone torches and a line night light that one must have brought from their room. The girls utilised the tricks they’ve picked up earlier on, and is laughing way too hard while attempting to balance on a metal structure. Ling successfully landed a spin on the pole, and the room erupted into cheers.
After a few turns from different dancers, alcohol have started to emerge in the studio. Seeing that everyone is of age and the workshop has long since wrapped up, no one seemed to mind the sneaky drinks here and there.
“CB! Get your ass up on the pole!” Kirsten hollered at the newbie. The Jam Republic Agency members begun to chant the newcomer’s name until CB found her way in front of the crowd.
“Ok ok I see how it is - hazing the newbie.” The group all laughed as CB changed the song to Ashnikko’s playlist, hopping onto the pole effortlessly. As Bada took a sip of the alcohol handed to her, she almost choked at the sight of CB on the pole, dangling upside down while spinning. Her world was silent for a brief moment, butterflies in her stomach with an all-too-familiar feelings she’s had.
The shenanigans went on for a little longer, until someone from the crowd, obviously a little tipsy and slurring, started demanding for lap dances. “LAP DANCE LAP DANCE LAP DANCE” the group chanted.
CB laughed and complied, relieved by the welcoming and lively environment; coming from a non-music background, she was dreading not having a place amongst the professionals. “Kirsten girl come on,” the blue haired girl demanded, imitating the dancer’s ‘main rival’ from that dance show she was on a few months prior. Following the uproar, the Kiwi pulled up a chair close to the pole CB was on.
The dance routine was risqué and suggestive, and the two girls was giggling all through the performance. A few bars into the song, CB politely asked the sitting girl if she’s okay with her sitting on her lap, and Kirsten gladly accepted the offer. “Holy shit babes I feel like I’m in a club right now sans the actual stripping part, are you sure you don’t want to get tipped for this?” Kirsten said as she pulled out some coins.
The former stripper let out a laugh and suggested “Maybe make it rain, not make it hail.”
Everyone was having great fun with the ass shaking and provocative dancing, aside from Bada who, even to her own surprise, felt a tinge of jealousy. Before she knew it, she have made herself rather close to the front of the performance, watching every floor-humps and twerkings.
Out of the corner of CB’s eyes she noticed the blonde girl approaching, and leaned forward to whisper at Kirsten. “Sorry babes I’ll need you to move along, my main chick has arrived.” Kirsten’s eyes widen in understanding and hummed in agreement.
“You’re up next,” Kirsten stood up and pulled Bada into the chair in one swift motion. Before the long haired blonde dancer had noticed what’s going on, she was seated into a metal folding chair, inches away from CB’s thighs. One moment she was ravelling in a trance of jealousy, the next thing she realised was making eye contact with an inked dragon, with CB’s shorts riding dangerously high up her ass cheeks and Miss Nectarine playing in the background.
CB mouthed a quick ‘thank you’ to Kirsten before tuning into the music and the dancer in front of her, cheeks flushed from alcohol. Her lips looked so edible right now CB had to quickly wipe the corner of her mouth to make sure she isn’t drooling.
Bada watched as CB snap herself into the dance routine during the first few beats, her facial expression turned from cheerful laughter to pure seduction with a quick heel click. Her hand glided down the pole sensually, her back slowly arching forward. With the help of her other hand she swiftly swung herself around and remained hovering in that posture for a few turns, before smoothly landing into a split. The crowd erupted into a series of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’, some even clapping, but it all seemed like white noise to Bada as CB maintained eye contact whilst slowly crawling towards her.
“May I?” She gently enquired the blonde in the seat before sitting on her lap with her head leaned backwards onto her shoulder. The dancer have previously shared some close contact dances with other performers, but this is a first for her as her cheeks flushed red and her heart thumping - and she’s pretty sure it’s not because of the alcohol.
The two minute song felt way too short as CB stood up from the dancer, jaw hung in shock by the titillating act. CB noticed the flustered girl’s attempt at composing herself and tipped her hat brim downward to help hide her rosy cheeks. She then quickly bowed at the audiences as she pulled Ling back onto the pole. “Your turn Ling, I need a smoke.”
CB shuffled through the crowd and made her way to her usual hide out, pulling out the essentials. That little lap dance stunt that she pulled just now was not just blood-tingling for the famous dancer, being that close to her was an equally electrifying experience to CB. Pulling off that feat without stumbling - especially when she was looking right back at her like that - CB quickly rolled a blunt to clear some unholy thoughts from her mind.
The door creaked open and Bada poked her head through the gap, walking out once she confirmed that the producer is once again curled up in the seat. “What was that all about?” She asked with a smirk as she approached.
“My feeble at seducing you, Princess,” CB said while gesturing tipping a hat.
The tall dancer took up the empty seat next to CB, leaning towards the girl, her face now inches away from hers. “Well it worked, so what’s next?” She said breathily, slowly glancing down at her lips.
CB chuckled a little and tucked a loose strand of the dancer’s blonde hair behind her ears. Leaning forward to close the gap, she whispered in her ears “Well then let’s get to work.”

Hetalia
As somebody who has been chronically online for a very long time, Hetalia always freaked me out, mainly because of the fan base. I never took interest in watching the anime because of the way that I saw fans obsess over the characters in the anime, even though they are essentialist adaptations of countries. I just always thought that the obsessive nature of the Hetalia fans was scary!!!
Diving into the anime itself, it takes one of the most serious topics of world history and filters it through easy comedy. The episodes that we watched served mainly as an introduction to the main cast- depictions of countries with exaggerated stereotypes that reflect national identities.
As with real history, Italy, Germany, and Japan form the "Axis" trio. Italy was portrayed with a deep love of pasta and cowardice, Germany with hyper-discipline, and Japan with a more mysterious personality. Again with historical accuracy, the "Allies" were formed by America, England, France, China, and Russia. They all have endless bickering, shifting alliances, and once again, exaggerated personalities. America loves burgers, England with tsundere attitude, and France's vanity.
But under the bite-sized comedy and blatant stereotyping, Hetalia really jabs at topics like war, nationalism, and global politics. By personifying countries in a likeable manner, the show reduces conflict into mere squabbles between individuals. It doesn't serve as a history lesson, it is more of a life lesson. It does take brief moments to discuss history through segments like "Chibitalia".
I think that if I had more time in my schedule, I would watch all of Hetalia, as long as I never interact with the fandom!

First day of HTML
Disclamer, this is more of a review for me since I *did* start to learn html a few years ago. However, I didn't get too far and I'm not just going to jump right back in to where I was when I left off, so we're restarting from the very beginning.
Today I went through the "Introduction", "Editors", "Basic", and "Elements" pages and to summarize those lessons:
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, and is the primary language used for coding web pages
HTML uses elements to describe the structure of a webpage
Every HTML document must begin with the <!DOCTYPE html> declaration
An HTML element is defined using the format: <tagname>Content goes here</tagname>
HTML documents are created out of nested elements, meaning that one element can contain another
NEVER SKIP THE END TAG unless you want to risk unexpected errors when you try to run your code
HTML is not case sensitive, so it doesn't matter whether you write or . Just try to keep it consistent throughout your code!
Here's a list of the elements learned so far in those lessons:
<html> - the root element. This is used at the start and end of any document, with everything on the webpage sitting between the tags.
<head> - used for meta information that isn't displayed on the page itself, such as the <title> element
<title> - this is the title of your webpage that appears on your browser tab
<body> - the body of the document, a container for all visible elements on the webpage
<h1> - defines a heading of the highest priority
<h2> - defines a heading of the second highest priority
<h3> - defines a heading of the third highest priority
(and so on up until <h6>)
<p> - defines a paragraph
<br> - defines a line break in a paragraph (note: <br> is an "empty element" because it has no content and therefore does not have an end tag)
Links and images both use attributes within the tag to provide additional information about the element.
<a> - a web link. Can be nested within a paragraph or heading. Uses the href attribute to specify the link's destination. For example:
<a href=https://www.website.com>Linked text goes here</a>
<img> - an image. Uses src to specify the source file, alt to set alternative text, width and height.
<img src="image.jpg" alt="an image" width="96" height="102">
To create an HTML document you can simply open any basic text editor (for Windows, Notepad works perfectly), write your code, and save as a .htm or .html file, preferably with UTF-8 encoding.
You can then open the file in your browser to see your very own HTML webpage!
Reference: I'm using the w3schools HTML tutorial

to start, let's introduce our cast of characters
i am playing Duke Mendacious. i know diplomacy games can get cutthroat, and feelings can get hurt if you felt you deserved to win and had that snatched away from you by your friends, so i go into the game not intending to win. instead, im gonna play the wealthy baron slash sinister vizier. i pick a species that makes it cost less research to boost my income in exchange for worse ship range. my plan is to find a corner of the map to squat in, make a ton of money, and then pay people to do my bidding. however, my starting position complicates that, as i wind up just north of dead center in the map, pinned in by empires on all sides. well, whatever. if i manage to cause some chaos before i'm inevitably taken out, ill consider that a victory.
next up is Ivhan the Unifier, Prince Prime of Dabih. a fervent believer of the Golden Wheel religion, Ivhan seeks to bring peace and prosperity to all the peoples of the galaxy, whether they understand this is for their own good or not. Ivhan is my neighbor to the direct east, and has a little corner of the map all to himself. Ivhan has faster manufacturing research in exchange for poor income, and is played by my friend Joe Young. Joe's a phenomenal game designer and a terrifyingly sharp guy, so I already know he's one to look out for.
to Ivhan and I's south is BUG 2802dcd5, representing the Insectorg hive. a hyper-efficient species of terraformers, they have great manufacturing but terrible weapons, and seek to overwhelm their enemies through sheer numbers. 2802 is a cunning tactibug, quick to distrust any suspicious movement near its borders. probably my favorite character to roleplay off, but we'll get to that later.
just below 2802, directly south of me, is Glazier Solscourge, mighty conqueror of the stars., played by @vvvisection. i won't talk about Glazier much yet, cuz our distance meant i didn't know much about them until the game was well underway, but they went for a balanced kit with no defined strength or weakness.
to Glazier's west is Garbo the Ancient, an emperor who was old and storied before any of us were even born. like Glazier, I didn't have much contact with Garbo at first, so I'll save his introduction for later, but he had cheap range and costly manufacturing, and his placement on the map meant he had a huge swath of stars behind him that nobody else could really access.
these five were the major players of this game, though we had three more. M was directly to my west, and conceded about a week in, leaving their empire under AI control. P was directly to M's south, just above Garbo. J was tucked into the far southeast corner, between Ivhan and the bugs. they played their parts, but this is an intense, all-consuming game, and i don't blame them for not committing as much of their blood, sweat, and spinal fluid to this game as the rest of us did. honestly, i envy that a little. im unable to not go full hog, and it meant i lost a lot of sleep this month.
anyway, next we'll begin the history lesson.
just finished playing an eight player game of Neptune's Pride, a free, real-time 4X space diplomacy game. my friends and i, organized by @vvvisection, began playing at 12:30pm on February 7th, and finished at 6:30am on March 15th, 37 days later. this game has occupied a terrifying proportion of my waking thoughts, as well as several stress dreams. it was a wonderful experience i don't think i could ever do again.
im gonna make myself a hot chocolate, sit down, and tell you about it.

Monstrous talents
Oozma Kappa x Scarer!Reader x Roar Omega Roar
Tumblr media
(Drabble? Headcanons? I'm not quite sure.)
(I'll probably work this into a longer fic eventually, but it's late enough at night that I'll start with this.)
- If you find yourself as a new student at Monsters University, one of two things pretty much has to be the case for you to catch the attention of both the fraternities. Either you're a promising new student in the scare program, or you're just ridiculously popular for some reason. Maybe you come from an impressive lineage of scarers, maybe your popular online, or maybe your just super friendly, but regardless, you've made a name for yourself in the first few weeks at college, and these greek houses are taking notice.
- As far as meeting the fraternities, it's unlikely you meet all the members of each at once.. During your first introduction with a member of Oozma Kappa, you're sitting in scare 101, waiting for Prof. Knight to return, when something hits the back of your head. When you look down at your desk, you see what looks like a toy wand, the kind you'd see at a childrens magic show. Picking up the stick, you look around for the culprit, your eyes quickly landing on two yellow monsters a few rows behind you. Upon looking closer, you'll realize they're actually one monster with two heads.
-Curious, you climb back a few rows and give the pair back their wand, thus meeting the dynamic duo of Oozma Kappa, Terri and Terry. Despite being one body, they definitely have two minds. While Terry remains cool, and apologizes, Terri immediately panics. There's quick, short apologies, stuttering, and a pack of cards even fall out of his side of the sweater. You learn that the wand projectile was the result of a magic-trick-gone-wrong. You assure the pair that it's alright, and introduce yourself. Terri responds well to your positivity, and quickly changes his mood from panicked to excited at the prospect of a new friend.
-When Prof. Knight returns and calls for the class to settle down and begin, you wave goodbye and return to your seat. Your trying to hyper-focus on the lesson, taking notes at a rapid pace. You've always known that being scary is only half of being an effective scarer. Unfortunately, your focus is broken when your pencil snaps. You reach into your bag and try to grab your sharpener, only for your pencil to roll off your desk and away from you. As you go to retrieve it, the pencil suddenly floats up into the air. You stare wide eyed, until a purple appendage appears coiled around it. You lean back in sudden shock, and see the monster attached to the tail, seemingly some sort of purple lizard. The monster looks at you with an impatient squint. You simply stare, still shocked at how he suddenly appeared, prompting him to shake the pencil in front of your face and huff out a 'Take it'. You take the pencil back quickly, muttering a quick thanks. Throughout the class, you glance a few times in at the strange monster, occasionally catching him looking back at you.
-After class, Terri catches up with you, calling your name as you head out of the lecture hall, dragging a rather embarrassed Terry with him. As they approach, you can hear them arguing about something. "This is an awful idea-" "No it's not, we're making friends-" "I'm fine with you embarrassing yourself, but don't embarrass me by association!". The two come to a stop in front of you, and Terri invites you to meet up with their fraternity at the quad later. You agree, and ask them what frat they're part of. Terry only rolls his eyes, and Terri shrugs. "Oozma Kappa, were not exactly well-known." Terri admits. Regardless, you agree to meet up with them later.
-What you don't see is a purple monster watching you with curiosity from the door of the lecture hall.
-Later, you head out of your dorm and towards the quad, recognizing the bright green and yellow sweater you had seen the twins wearing from a mile away. "Y/N!" Terri yells, prompting his brother to cover his ears. Sitting down next to the pair, Terry shoots you an apologetic look as his brother introduces you to the other monsters sat with you.
-The first to speak is Art, extending a furry purple hand to you, which you shake. "Hola, my friend. I am Art, scare major. It's totally chill to meet you..." He speaks slowly and with a dazed look, but seems very nice. A tentacle extends next, attached to you a middle-aged pink monster. "Howdy, Don Carlton! Ex-salesman, current scare major!" He smiles, his eyes crinkling as he does so. "This is my step-son and fraternity brother, Scotty Squibbles." "Hi..." A soft voice says. You jump at the sudden sound, completely overlooking the small monster who seems to have suddenly appeared beside you. "Sorry, I'm still working on announcing myself."
-You find the conversation flows pretty easily as you hang out with Oozma Kappa. Despite their quirks, you have to admit it's nice to have friends at school. As Don begins to recall his first scare to a fascinated Terri, and Art zones out a few feet away to meditate, you turn to Scott, who you learn the group calls 'Squishy'. "Hey, Uh, Squishy?" He turns to look at you, a bit surprised you're addressing him. He looks around first, as if making sure you're not addressing some other Squishy. "Uh, Y-yeah?" He finally responds. "So, your Step-dad is also your fraternity brother..." He winces. "Can I ask how that happened?" You finish. He shake shis head and mumbles. "It's... We don't really like to talk about it." "Sure we do!" Don pops out of nowhere, and Squishy covers his ears and blocks out his stepfather as the tale begins.
-After a while, you hear what sounds like a loud debate coming towards the group, and turn to look in the direction of the noise. "No, and you know that's not right. I said no pickles on my burger, that's no way to run a business Sulley!" A green one-eyed monster yells, waving around a bag of fast food. "Calm down, Mike. A few pickles isn't a big deal." A much larger blue monster chuckles. "Don't talk to me about food, big guy. I've seen you eat half a sandwich off the kitchen tile." The green one grumbles and flops down beside Art as the blue monster follows. "Sorry it took so long to get food guys, they got the order wrong three times AND STILL GAVE ME PICKL-" He breaks into a rant while the blue monster shakes his head with an amused look.
-Just then it seems the bigger monster notices you. "Hey, who's this?" He asks. "Hi, I'm Y/N. Me and Terri-" You look over. "And Terry have Scare 101 together." He nods. "Are you a new transfer?" You nod. "Well, welcome to MU. James, James P. Sullivan." He shakes your hand. "Like Bill Sullivan?" You ask, bringing your knees up under your chin as you tilt your head curiously. "Oh, yeah..." His mood seems to dip at the mention of his family, so you decide not to push the subject.
-"Mike Wizowski, O.K. house president." The green monster proudly steps forward, motioning to his Oozma Kappa hat. "A fellow scare major huh? Well, get ready to be amazed, cause' Oozma Kappa's on track to being the top fraternity in this college." He certainly seems passionate. Sulley tries to reel in his energized friend, and the group digs into the fast food brought by there presidents. Art hands you his fries, sharing his wisdom with you. "Sharing is caring, Muchacho. Take these fries and pass this kindness forward."
- The evening carries on peacefully, and the group seems to welcome you immediately. It starts getting late, and slowly but surely the group separates, going their separate ways. Before you go, Mike stops you. "Look, you seem like a pretty scary monster, but I need to ask you one thing." His voice lowers, and his eye narrows. You nod for him to continue, a little concerned at his intimidating demeanor. "Are you willing to go all the way?" He asks. "Um, I mean, Yes?" You respond. "Alright, I'll take it!" He claps his hands together, satisfied. "If you ever want any scare practice, call me or the guys up. Oozma Kappa is always looking for determined potential scarers." He quickly scribbles down Squishy's home phone number, and heads off, books in hand.
-You head back to your dorm, head filled with thoughts of the busy day you've had. Recounting your lessons and conversations, you must not have been looking where you were going, and you run right into someone. "Hey!" A scratchy voice barks, and you crash to the ground. "I'm so sorry, I must not have seen you!" You scramble to stand back up, brushing off your legs. "That's no excuse, I'm not even camouflaged." You look up, and realize the speaker is the reptilian monster from class this morning. "Oh, it's you!" You exclaim. "You probably don't remember me, I'm Y/N. We have scare 101 together?" You stick out your hand, and he eyes it suspiciously. He sighs and shakes it. "Boggs. Randall Boggs. You new to the scare program?" He asks. You nod happily. He's about to make a snarky comment before you cut him off. "You can turn invisible, right?" You ask.
-He's a bit surprised at how eager to speak to him you seem, and decides to allow you to continue. "Yeah, I can change my skin patterns too. 'S why I'm the best scarer in our class." He boasts. "Wow, I've never met someone who can do that before, is it hereditary?" He answers a few questions you have, clearly happy to talk about himself. After a bit, you feel a bit silly from asking him so much. "Sorry to talk your ear off, maybe I'll see you in class?" You ask. He pauses, but nods. "Sure. I look forward to seeing you scare." He slinks off, back into the darkness of the campus at night. You smile to yourself, thinking about how lucky you are to make friends.
-Back at the frat houses, two conversations take place. At Oozma Kappa, Terri talks up your scare techniques to Mike and the others, with his brother chipping in here and there. "They used a crackle roar in the scare simulator the other day, and I almost screamed!" Terri exclaims, chatting with the others. Mike heads into the kitchen, and sees Sulley by the fridge. "They seem pretty excited by the new scarer, huh?" Sulley says, and Mike nods. "Good, I hate to say it, but I think these guys need some friends outside of the fraternity." Sulley shakes his head. "You need some friends outside of the frat." He teases, only making Mike agitated. "Wha- I have friends! I have you know I am very popular with the lunch ladies..."
-Meanwhile, a different conversation takes place over at the number one fraternity on campus, Roar Omega Roar. Johnny Worhtington is sat in the living room, watching the college Monsterball broadcast on the sports channel. A door closes and he sees a bit of movement coming from the entryway. "Boggs, aren't you gonna say hi?" He asks, grinning when he hears an annoyed groan come from the stares. Another small breeze, and Randall appears beside the large monster. "I'm kind of busy, Johnny." He spits, and Johnny puts his hands up in surrender. "Calm down, just seeing how you're doing. I saw you talking with the new scare student." Randall pauses, and turns to face Johnny."And?" He pushes. "And... I know you share a class with them, are they any good?" He asks. "Yeah, not seen anything crazy yet, but yeah." Randall responds, prompting Johnny to nod. "Good, good." He returns to watching his T.V., clearly thinking about something. Randall watches him for a few moments, before shaking his head and heading back upstairs.

Do you think knowing your role is really important? Like protectors are pretty clearly protectors for us but I'm just a teen alter who's sad a lot. Maybe I'm taking the labels too literally? I hold trauma memories but that's not all I do...I think maybe we were heavily misled by DID youtubers. Like our old host stressed themselves out so much when they first discovered the system because they heard that alters are trapped in trauma memories like a mind hell and also they can DIE. But I was one of the alters they were worried about and I'm not trapped.
Tumblr media
Naaaaahhhhh. And honestly, we are very disillusioned and not a fan of DID Youtube all together really. The only one we really would recommend to any level is M&M and even then, I would say to take it with the note that they are sharing a fraction of everything and only what they are comfortable sharing publicly. Beyond that, I reallly would try to not take DID Youtube too seriously or really as anything too particularly informational.
Specifically also, don't fuck around with DissociaDID shit, we won't go into our detailed opinions on them, but they're arguably the worst in terms of both active message and information and the passive subcontext and lessons they share on there. I am personally of the believe that in most cases DissociaDID's video sets people up for failure if used for anything more than just a "heres the very very basics of how things kinda tend to be like sometimes" and/or an introduction to the chaotic mess. I say this as an ex-fan.
But DID Youtube aside, nah, I don't really think roles are all too important at all and honestly I heavily promote making up your own ones. The label of roles - especially the official ones - should serve more to communicate to therapists and outsiders (of the system) key dynamics and ways of existing of some parts to others. I find that using your own words and labels to describe your system helps create a more catered perspective to approaching how your system works.
The general paradigm of "protector" "trauma holder" "persecutor" "gatekeeper" stuff works very well as a template for understanding alter dynamics and so it works for a lot of people starting up good enough, but I feel as you go further into recovery, you benefit more from having custom and curated terms that apply more specifically to your system and those roles are better used for internal purposes.
And even then, its perfectly fine to not have a role cause existing (DID or not) is not about having a specific duty or role to fit into, it is and should be solely to just live and enjoy things. Getting too bogged down in what part is doing what for what reason tends to keep parts from actually just existing beyond the chaos of their disorder - which is something XIV had taught us cause we used to be pretty heavy with roles in the past. You exist and that should come first before trying to fit you into a box or into the machine because you existing is more important that what you have to offer.
Lin is in a similar situation to you from the little I know - a teen alter that is a trauma holder that does more than just hold trauma but nothing too drastically large - and thats super fine and cool. He's not doing anything, he is just living and learning to live and thats all we expect from him. We're happy when we see him happy and we don't really care what he is supposed to be doing or what role he plays cause man fuck that shit.
We are just here to live. It benefits none of us to be trying to focus on "work" within the system when we have a life to live.
I am of the opinion that roles help in relaxing and getting an understanding to the general idea of how DID works, but past that stage of confusion of early healing, its kinda just best to let that go and really just learn to live again.
Hyper focusing and trying to organize and understand everything in DID is honestly ruminating and fixating and staying in trauma - inherently - and will keep you regularly trying to pick apart trauma and ruminate in it - directly or not - if you are worrying too much about labels and roles and how everything works exactly. It's easier said than done and it took us years to get here, but imo the best way to live peacefully with DID is to really just let it be.
It's scary if you aren't there yet and its not something you can really rush or force, but that's my personal secret advice as someone at functional multiplicity. You don't need to understand you DID to have great peace with it, hell I'd even argue that its pointless to try to understand your DID (might not be true cause we're polyfragmented so maybe for non pf systems its less of a wild goose chase, but for us we just came to terms and accepted that this shit is nonsensical and trying to make sense out of it is more of a headache than its worth)

Note
20 and 59 for the mashup au prompts. Any pairing that strikes your fancy :)
From this post here
Describe how I’ll combine them: Co-teachers to lovers via secret admirer shenanigans.
“And don’t forget, project drafts are due next Thursday.”
So far, so good, Lena thinks as she gathers up her belongings and heads out the door of her first class of the day. She likes it here in Midvale. It’s a lot slower, a lot quieter, a lot--
Force, mass, velocity, something bumps into her hard.
“Oh shoot! I am so sorry. Here…”
The woman who apparently was the thing that bumped into her bends down and picks her things up off the floor.
Lena is, of course, properly miffed and halfway to a firm scolding until the woman straightens up again and Lena forgets how talking works for a moment.
Her hair is flowing in golden locks and the bluest eyes she had ever seen are looking at her from behind dark-rimmed glasses.
“Wait, you’re the new girl, right? Lena from Metropolis?”
“Yes,” Lena clears her throat. “Yes, that’s me.”
“Sorry about that,” the woman says nervously. “Let me make it up to you. Lunch in the hall at lunchtime?”
Lena should say no. She’s not here to make friends. But the blonde is cute and her shoulders are...nice. So…
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
The blonde gives her a thumbs up and turns to leave, but quickly turns around and jogs back to where Lena is standing mutely.
“It’s Kara, by the way.” She extends a hand towards Lena in introduction. “Kara Danvers. I teach English.”
Ao3
Kara Danvers takes it upon herself to be Lena from Metropolis’ first ever official work friend.
-
Lena loses a fight with the coffee maker. She’d been having a bad day already, see. Her mother had called this morning, so naturally, by the time the damn machine stopped working, she was on the brink of tears.
“Hey there, is everything alright?” Kara asks cautiously as she walks into the break area.
“Everything is fucking dandy, thanks.” Lena growls, angrily swiping a hand at her eyes.
“Whoa, okay… You know, Noonan’s is right over there and your next class isn’t til 3, we could--”
“How did you know that?”
Kara casually points to the schedule on the board behind her.
Lena only growls again.
“Okay, you’re really wound up. Come on, a walk could do you some good.”
Kara learns that Lena is here as a middle school science teacher because she wants to prove something to her mother. And the pressure is getting to her.
“Sometimes you don't have to do amazing, just have to do your best.” Kara says reasonably. “Look, you're great and your students love you. So don't worry about what your mother says. Judge your work by the proper standard or... something.”
Lena chuckles at that. Kara was probably right.
"Thank you. I… I really needed that."
Kara nods sagely and continues to sip at her iced coffee. "What are friends for?"
-
The note is simple and plain and handwritten and she has absolutely no idea what it means. Or who it’s from, for that matter.
It’s, well... It’s notes. The note contains notes. That much she can suppose from the five lines and the G-clef and the black dots staring back at her. She looks around for anyone who might have left it there by accident, but she’s alone in the faculty room. What’s more, the note is wedged between the pages of her lesson plan for today, the only thing currently lying on her desk. Frowning, she looks back down at the small piece of paper and shoves it into one of her drawers. She’ll decide what to do with it later.
-
The note notes are piling up now and she thinks this might be something worth investigating. She'd gotten three more over the last week, each with the same handwriting and the same paper, but the notes on the staff (she does know some things) seemed to be different every time. She lines them up in order of the dates she got them and squints intensely at them, daring the offending dots to tell her what the hell is going on.
-
Kara's eyes widen in horror when she walks into the faculty room and sees Lena glaring at the notes.
Her notes.
She quickly makes to get out again but Lena's already seen her.
"Kara, hey!"
Shit.
"Hi, what's up?" the blonde responds, her voice suddenly pitchy.
"Can you help me figure this out?" She scoots over as Kara leans into her space and over her desk.
"Oh, they're notes," Kara tries nonchalantly.
"I can see that," Lena deadpans. "Notes to what?"
"Ehm, well this is a G, and this is a D… That's an E minor… It's a song."
Lena fights the urge to dramatically roll her eyes. "Do you know what song it is?"
Dammit, this is wonderful.
"It could be any song, Lena."
She's still trying to dodge it but Lena is adamant. And Kara doesn't want to lie, but she doesn't want to be found out, either.
"Uh... I could play it and maybe we can figure it out?"
"Okay, let's try that."
-
The music room is empty, much to Kara's eternal chagrin, so she and Lena walk up to the piano and she starts to play the notes that Lena holds up in front of her.
"It's Elvis," Kara says simply.
Lena soon recognizes the tune and starts to hum along with the keys. Just then, Kara slowly looks up from her seat and is mesmerized by the sight: the light is hitting Lena's face just so, illuminating the lines of her jaw, the curve of her lips, the dark red of her hair. She wishes she could stay in this moment forever. And if Lena were paying attention, she would notice that Kara wasn't even looking at the notes anymore. She was playing by heart.
"Oh, that's sweet," Lena whispers when the tune is done. "And you never told me you could play."
"My dad taught me the basics. The rest I figured out myself," Kara says quietly.
"Aren't you full of surprises?"
-
"It might be Mike, you know, that guy from the marching band? He is objectively good looking."
"He chews with his mouth open."
"Ooh, could it be Jack from phys ed?" He walks around with a guitar most Fridays."
"Lena, Jack is so gay for the bar owner and you know it."
"Well, who could it be?"
Me, Kara wants to say. But she doesn't. She doesn't want to make things weird.
They're sitting on the bleachers during the afternoon break, Lena leaning into her side munching on the donuts Kara had gotten for them. It wasn't hard for them to fall into this sort of easy companionship. Kara was open and friendly, and Lena, once her walls had gone down, was sharp and fascinating. And Kara fears that the feelings she's developed might ruin whatever this was that they had. So instead of being honest with herself, she just shrugs and bites sullenly into her own donut.
"It could be anyone."
-
People are starting to notice how often they are together, start talking about how cute they look next to each other. And so people waste no time in throwing them into each other's paths, especially since prom is three days away.
-
“Come ON, Lena!” Kara yells as she grabs Lena’s hand and drags her to the dance floor. Lena tries her best until she isn’t so much trying as she is struggling to keep up with Kara, who seems to have only got more hyper as the night wore on. But the joy on her face is infectious, and honestly, if she got to see this every day, Lena wouldn’t mind.
The song ends and the band’s vocalist approaches the mic.
"Hey, hey, everybody, y’all having a good time?”
The crowd whoops in affirmation.
“Alright! Well I think it’s about the proper hour, so we’re gonna slow things down a bit starting with a classic.”
The opening strains of a piano-driven ballad fill the air, and Kara politely extends a hand towards Lena.
Lena accepts.
Wise men say only fools rush in / But I can’t help falling in love with you
The world around them dissolves as they sway together, Kara’s hand gentle against the small of Lena’s back, Lena’s arm reaching up behind Kara’s shoulder.
“It’s Elvis,” Kara whispers against her hair.
“It was you,” Lena chuckles in response.
“You knew?” Kara says as she draws back to look at her.
“No. But I was kinda hoping.” She smiles warmly and Kara has never seen anything more beautiful in her life.
“You’re not mad?”
“Darling, why would I be mad?” Lena lifts her hand to brush it across Kara’s cheek. “You had me at Oh Shoot."
Kara laughs as she ducks her head in embarrassment and Lena cannot help but join her.
"I'd really like to kiss you right now."
"Please do."

I’m right here
summary: levi and you have grown close in the underground, but when you’re forced to join the Survey Corps and attend your first expedition it all goes south
warnings: vomiting, angst, fluff, all of levi’s ova
this one is long, apologies.
✧ ೃ༄*ੈ✩
Levi, Isabel, Farlan and you flew through the air with the Military Police hot on your tail. Recently you were given information on a secret mission, to kill Erwin Smith.
Happiness tingled in every bone of your body, it was close to the time for you to go to the surface with Levi, to experience the sun together.
“The military police again? Haven’t learnt their lesson have they?” Isabel remarked with a cocky tone, peering back at our pursuers.
“Levi-bro! What I just said was cool, right?” She grinned widely and you smiled at her, already knowing Levi’s answer.
“Are you an idiot?” The raven head answered, Isabels face turned into a frown and she rolled her eyes.
Levi took off with his ODM and spun around before latching his grapples onto a wall, perched there for a moment while the attackers followed him as he jumped off, spinning backwards and joining us again.
“Show off.” You retorted as Levi stayed silent.
“Those movements, they’re not Military Police!” Farlan commented as he stared back at the enemies
“No mistake, its them,” Levi broke through, keeping his eyesight strained forwards “That Wings of Freedom crest.. It’s the Survey Corps.”
You stared wide eyed then looked past your shoulder at them.
“Heh, as people who battle titans they’re as different as expected.” Farlan lightly joked
“You guys... You know, right?” Levi inquired.
“It’s the job, right” You answered, hair whipping behind you as you flew forwards.
Instantly you all released your ODM’s and shot them off in separate directions, splitting up.
Gazing back you examined as one followed you, narrowing your eyes you fixated your eyes straight.
‘Show me how good you really are’ You thought.
Nearing a tunnel you shot your ODM inside, spinning into a ball to gain quicker on it, flattening out once inside.
Exiting the tunnel you noticed someone above you, eyes widening you shot forwards, releasing your gas excessively. Letting one grapple go you swung around on the one, watching as your pursuer anticipatied this they unsheathed their blades and went to strike you, dodging barely you fell back into a crate full of food.
Tumbling backwards you grunted, glaring as he ran after your fleeting figure. Finally gaining ground you straighten up until being thrown onto the floor again by a man.
You yelled and flipped eachother over, throwing punches at the mans face while another hooded figure came from the side. Throwing you off the man as you slid across the floor
Jumping up you gained your ground and pulled out a small dagger whilst they wielded their long blades.
One threw their blade at your knife, unsuspecting this it succeeded and they ran at you. Eyes widening as they kicked down one of your legs, landing painfully onto the hard stone.
Placing your hands behind your back they cuffed you and hoisted you up, struggling against their grip.
“You think you’re so strong.. Well fuck off” You sneered as they smacked the back of your head, furrowing your brows at the surprise.
Levi soon came into view with a blonde man holding a blade to him, anger spiked through every nerve in your body. With your futile attempts to get out the grasp of the handcuffs your wrists began to become red with irritation.
Levi’s eyes locked with yours and his eyes narrowed, the blonde man muttering things to Levi before he opened his palm to release his dagger.
“Levi!” You yelled and tried to break free of your captor.
Levi took steps back as a new Survey Corps came up behind him and placed the handcuffs on him.
Bringing us over they lined us up and made us go on our knees, staring at the ground your hair hung over your eyes.
Levi was to the left of you, turning your head you peered at him, there was a distant look in his eyes as he hyper fixated on the ground beneath him. You frowned and returned your gaze back to the floor.
“I’ll ask a few questions.” The blonde one asserted infront of you all “Where did you get this?”
There was silence as we all kept our mouth shut, why would we fucking tell you, idiot.
“You guys are skilled with 3D Maneuver Gear. Who taught you all that?” The man questioned again.
He walked towards Levi, stopping infront of him. “You’re their leader, right?” he persists “Were you in the Military?”
Suddenly a man grabs the back of Levi’s head, his fists knotting in his hair as he slammed his head into a puddle of mud.
Your head shot up immediately “Let him go!” You yelled and struggled against your cuffs, your gaze deathly as you glared at the man holding Levi.
“I’ll ask one more time. Where did you learn to use 3D Maneuver Gear?”
Your face was in a large scowl as your eyes were trained on the man restraining Levi, if looks could kill he’d be doubled over.
“We learned it by ourselves!” Farlan shouted
“Self taught you say? No.”
“It’s just so we can rise even a bit in this dirty garbage place!” Farlan persisted, shouting “People who’re used to sunlight wouldn’t understand!”
“That’s enough! Let bro go.” Isabel shouted at the blonde giant, “Dont be cocky just because you’re soilders!”
“Take your filthy hands off him.” You seethed at the one gripping Levi’s hair, paying no mind to you.
Eventually he lifted Levi’s head from the dirty mud whilst the man squatted infront of him.
“My name is Erwin Smith. Yours is?”
“Levi.”
“Levi, why don’t we make a deal.”
“A deal?”
“I will let your crimes go unpunished. In return lend me your strength, join the Survey Corps.”
Your eyes widened and you gasped lightly “Levi, no...” You called, the Survey Corps were extremely dangerous and you didn’t want Levi to risk his life by himself.
“And if I refuse?”
“The Military Police will have you, considering all your crimes, you and your friends won’t be treated very nicely.” The man stood and returned to his original placement, “Choose whichever you prefer.”
There was a long pause as Levi considered this, thoughts of you flashed through his mind vaguely. He didn’t want you beaten for his choice, but neither did he want Farlan and Isabel to either.
“Fine.”
You looked down at the floor, a frown evident on your face as you shook your head.
“I’ll join the Survey Corps.”
You were going with him no matter what.
──────────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────────
“Introduce yourselves!” Bellowed a voice as you stood, leaning your weight against one hip as you crossed your arms over your chest.
You all ended up joining the Survey Corps and stood wearing the outfit, atleast it wasn’t uncomfortable.
“The names Levi.”
“Levi.. The first thing you’ll need is some goddamn discipline,” argued the commander “Next.”
“I’m Isabel Magnolia! Nice to meetcha!”
“My name is... Farlan Church.”
With your arms crossed you studied the crowd as they waited for you,
“My name is Y/N.”
“Flagon, these four will be assigned to your squad.” Ordered the Commander.
The introductions ended and Flagon brought them to the barracks, they began to converse amongst eachother as you walked behind Levi.
His hand lifted and rubbed behind the wood, dust falling and sticking to his fingertips. Farlan, Isabel, and your eyes all widened in fear as you quickly noticed what it was.
“I know you all lived in the underground, but try to keep this place paper clean.” Stated the man.
“..Huh?” Levi remarked as he walked towards Flagon, his gaze icy with a glare.
“Why are you looking at me like that? How dare you.”
Farlan rushed forwards and placed a hand between the two, “Sorry! We will keep this place clean.”
Flagon nodded and headed for the door “Training begins to tomorrow,” and left.
You looked back at Levi, walking towards him and placing a hand on his shoulder, gingerly squeezing it.
“Don’t pull anymore tricks like that Levi.” Commented Farlan as he watched him clean the filth off his fingers.
Levi frowned angrily and looked past you to Farlan “Did you not hear what that piece of shit had spouting out of his piece of shit mouth?”
You grinned a bit at that and stepped away from Levi, sitting down on the bed as you let the two argue. Resting your head in your hands whilst you shut your eyes.
You felt the bed dip and removed your hands, looking to see Levi. A disgusted look present on his face as he couldn’t believe he was sitting in such filth.
“Levi, are you worried?” You asked softly. You and Levi’s sides were pressed together as he stared straight on.
“Yes, but we have training tomorrow. Then we can finally see how real this is.” He remarked as you nodded, taking his hand in both of yours. He allowed you to, his gaze staring at your hands.
“I wish you hadn’t come.” Levi added, your eyes snapped to his as you held eye contact.
“What, and let you come here by yourself and get potentially killed. Fuck no.” You snapped at him whilst your grip on his hand tightening.
Levi’s gaze softened at you, he knew these titans were dangerous and he was terrified. Terrified for your safety, but he’d never show it.
Suddenly you released your grip on his hand and instead wrapped them around his neck, pulling him close to you as you put your head in the crook of his neck. He smelt of soap and artificial flowers from a cleaning product.
Levi had stiffened under your touch, his heart beat quickly. His mouth only a fraction open as he registered the human contact. A warm feeling bloomed in his chest and clenched his heart, warmth spreading throughout his body. It lasted mere seconds until his face went back to emotionless. His arms slowly wrapped around your waist and he breathed in your scent momentarily. You smelt of light flowers and vanilla. He loved it almost instantly.
Despite his wishes, his eyes shut and his grip on you tightened. Taking in this moment for he was fearful it’d be the first and last. Pulling back slowly, his hands traced along your waist to your cheeks as he cupped them gently.
Your hand gingerly hovered over his as you two stared at eachother, the tension so strong it gripped your heart and squeezed. His eyes flickered to your lips, his thumb extended from your soft skin to your plump lips, rubbing it tenderly.
Running your hand along his arm you traced it to his hair, your nails going through his silky raven locks until your hand reached the back of his neck where his hair began.
Inching him closer, “Levi..” you whispered delicately. Your noses nearly touching as your eyes fluttered shut, Levi took this as acceptance as his lips neared yours.
BANG
“Levi, Y/N,” Farlan.
──────────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────────
It was the morning after and you stood, unsheathing the blades from your gear, turning and flipping them as you inspected the sharp objects.
“Eh, what do you think your doing?”
Holding the blades you turned to gaze at one of the captains, flipping the blades you gripped them correctly.
“Don’t worry, if I wanted to kill you, I would’ve.” You remarked with a small grin as the captain’s mouth gaped open until his face contoured into one of anger.
“Do not talk to your superior like that—“ Bellowed the captain before you took off into the trees, a laugh following you as it left your lips.
Soaring through the tall trees you kept your eyes honed on any fast approaching objects, gripping your blades tighter as you steadied your breathing.
A large cardboard cutout rose from the trees infront of you, it was bigger than an average human but small when maneuvering above it.
You gasped lightly and faltered momentarily. Leaving your trance you scowled and sent off an ODM on the tree above.
Grappled to the tree you were perched on the tree bark, readying your blades you sent off the ODM on its nape and sliced it through successfully. Grappling away instantly to look for more.
Adrenaline flowed through you, your eyes crazed more as you came across another. Using the nearby trees to swing above and behind the cardboard titan, spinning around you glided above the nape. Grappling the nape and slicing through it perfectly.
The one controlling the cardboard titan stared up at you in shock, how was she so fast?
Continuing this until you made it back to the rest, landing smoothly your eyes scanned the crowd. Spotting Levi you rushed over, grabbing his arm whilst his cold glare turned to look at his grabber.
Levi’s gaze softened realizing it was you and planted a hand on your head, his fingers tangling in your hair before they trailed down your locks and let go.
──────────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────────
“I’ll be going alone.”
Levi’s words echoed in your mind as you stared at him, eyes wide. Tch, who does Levi think he is. A scowl formed on your face and your hands clenched into a fist.
“What?” Isabel and Farlan spoke in unison with shocked expressions.
“You three must make up and excuse to stay behind.”
“But bro, why!?” Isabel exclaimed loudly.
“We haven’t seen a real titan yet and it will be our first time outside the walls. It may take all we have to make it back alive. But if i’m by myself, i’ll manage somehow.”
“But..” You got up off the crate and stood, crossing your arms, “So you’re saying is that we can’t handle it?” You questioned briskly.
“That’s right, or atleast, how I feel.” Levi spoke coldly.
Isabel frowned deeply and walked towards Levi, her hands in fist as she shook slightly, “How can you say that? You won’t know till we tried!” She defended “What’s wrong? This isn’t like you,” She’d add.
Levi frowned and clenched his fist, glaring at you three “If you won’t stay behind, then we’re done talking!” he finalized and walked past you, his painful words attacking your heart as you hung your head.
They yelled for him to stop but you stayed silent, Isabel and Farlan began to argue. Looking up you gazed to where he’d gone, the roof.
Walking towards it, it brought the attention of Isabel and Farlan “Y/N” they began as you gestured your hand to follow.
Reaching the roof you noticed Levi sitting, the door opening had caught his attention, he stared at your nearing figure.
“Levi.” You spoke and walked forwards.
“Bro,” “Levi,” spoke Isabel and Farlan simultaneously.
“I can’t let you go alone.” Farlan demanded, standing confidently.
“You said we’d all go at once, have you forgotten?” Isabel added coldly.
You stopped almost infront of him, crossing your arms “We still have to see the beyond the wall.” Levi’s eyes widened and he lost air for a moment, turning back to the view of the roof.
“It’s the same. When you can’t see the moon or stars, the sky up here is just the same as down below.” Levi said dully, staring straight on.
You three looked up into the dark sky, clouds were clogging the beautiful sky from the stars and the planets beyond.
“The color sure, but..” Farlan began, “But it’s different” Isabel concluded as Levi turned his head to Isabel, “We know there’s no ceiling! It’s completely different.”
“Look,” you pointed into the sky, the gloomy clouds moved to reveal a bright moon. “The moon is so bright!” Isabel exclaimed loudly in an awe tone.
Farlan and Isabel took seats on the edge with Levi, staring up. You walked forwards and took a seat next to Levi, your knees touching as you yourself gazed up at the moon and stars.
“We’ll never go back down there.”
“She’s right bro. The four of us always pulled through, right? It’ll be the same with the titans. Let’s do this together.” Isabel grinned widely as she turned to look at her friends.
“Levi, believe in us.” Farlan spoke and looked to his friend, Levi’s eyes dilated when he heard this. His emotions were powerful but so were his friends determination.
Levi looked to the starry sky and pondered this, memories of his friends passed through his mind. Looking back down a smile had taken his lips “Alright. I’ll believe in you.”
“Yay!” Isabel yelled as she put her arms in the air whooping with joy, “Bro sure is a stubborn one isn’t he?”
Farlan began to chuckle whilst you placed your hand on Levi’s, interlacing eachothers fingers as you looked up to the sky. Levi stared at you with determination and most importantly love, the smile he held never ceased to falter from his face.
──────────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────────
“We will now begin the 23rd Expedition Beyond the Walls!” Bellowed the Commander of the Survey Corps, “Forward, Everyone!”
He whipped the reigns on his horse and took off, yelling loudly. Everyone followed his command and started off behind him. To the right of you was Levi, Farlan, then Isabel.
As you galloped under the wall it opened to reveal the great plains with some strips of trees. Tilting your head up you found the sun belting down on you, it was gorgeous, better than you could’ve imagined. The sunlight stretched as far as you could see, it’s bright rays lighting the beauty of the land.
Along with you, Farlan and Isabel seemed awestruck while they stared at the bright blue sky, “Wow!” Isabel spoke in awe.
“Yeah. Not bad at all.” Levi said from beside you, staring up he saw the sun. He had fulfilled his promise to Y/N, to go beyond the wall together. A faint smile on his usual bored lips.
“Levi, thank you.” You spoke from beside him, turning to look at the girl who grinned broadly, “Thank you for showing me.”
Levi stared at you, impossible to mutter the words he so badly wanted to say ‘I love you’.
He could only muster a nod at you and turn his head straight on, his heart beating wildly in his chest but his face a stoic one.
A girl scolded the four of you for losing focus, exclaiming we’d die before we know it.
“Titan spotted!”
Your gaze cut to look ahead of you, a 15 meter was running straight at your squad. Air hitched in your throat as you stared at it ‘So this is what a titan looks like’ you thought.
“Two 10-meter class titans are heading for us from behind!”
Snapping your head back you saw the other two titans, eyebrows furrowing.
“Prepare to attack! Equip your 3D Maneuver Gear!”
One man went to attack the titan, shooting his gear at it head on. Before the titans mouth gaped open and crunched down on the man.
Flagon quickly shot his ODM at a nearby tree, flying up off his horse and escalating on the titan, flying behind it and turning back to advance on it he striked at the nape, killing it as it tumbled to the ground.
You were shocked but felt the heavy footsteps of the titans behind you gaining, turning you looked to see the two titans.
“You three! Stay in your course!” Flagon shouted from ahead.
Suddenly a green cape flew by, fluttering in the wind as it headed straight for the two titans behind us.
“Levi!” You yelled and spun your horse around, whipping the reigns roughly as you leaned forwards on the horse, gaining speed by the second.
“Y/N! C’mon Isabel we can do this” Farlan called as they both turned their horses around, chasing after you and Levi.
You watched as Levi jumped off his horse and grappling to a tree behind them before grappling the titan and swinging around it until finally slicing its nape clean off. The surface rumbled as the titan fell to the ground, grass and soil flying into the air.
Taking a deep breath you stood on your horse, grappling to a tree. Unsheathing your blades you released the ODM on its leg, striking behind his knees. From above you saw Isabel get grabbed by the titan, fear striking your heart as you shot your ODM to save her.
Luckily, she cut off the fingers holding her and whooped loudly before swinging away. Farlan came from behind and swung at the nape, ending the titan. You were just infront the titan as you saw it begin to fall forwards, eyes widening as you grappled away hastily.
You landed on the ground and felt a gust of wind and dirt hit you heavily, protecting your eyes with your arm.
Dropping your arm you stood infront of the head of the titan, hot steam exiting into the air.
Levi came from behind you on his horse as he held the reigns of your stead, staring at your figure as you stood, nonmoving.
Despite your best efforts your hands shook from post shock, the blades shuddering in your grip as you still held them.
Levi got off his horse and came up from behind you, his arms snaking around your waist while he pulled your back to his chest.
“Levi..” You whispered softly as you felt your hands steady, sheathing your blades and placing your hands on his.
“Thank you..” Taking his hands off your stomach you held one and turned around, he only nodded at you and squeezed your hand before dropping it.
Isabel and Farlan came from ahead whilst you and Levi mounted your horses silently, “Levi! We took down a titan all by ourselves!” “We did it bro! We did it!” Isabel and Farlan said excitedly, huge grins on their faces.
“Yeah... You guys did well.” Levi agreed while you pet the mane of your horse gingerly.
“Indeed,” The sudden voice made you turn to see Erwin Smith, eyes widening a fraction “that was impressive, considering it was your first time. But you used too much gas. You need to be especially conservative out here.”
Farlan scowled and readied to argue before Levi put his hand out to stop him, speaking cooly, “You’re expecting me to take priority of my equipment over the lives of my friends?”
“You’re performing a lot of unnecessary movements. Are you beginning to have doubts?” Erwin challenged as Levi grimaced, “If you are, that’ll be the death of you very soon.”
You stared at Erwins retreating figure while Isabel and Farlan bickered amongst themselves.
Following after him soon after, the clouds beginning to turn a dark gray from above.
Small bullets of water began to rain down on the land, soaking everything it touched and fast.
Pulling your hood up you noticed fog cloud the area around you, your eyes darting to the areas of open land, fearful for a titan to appear.
“I didn’t know rain could be this heavy!” Isabel called
“We can’t even see any titans!” You exclaimed
“This is our chance.” Levi calmly spoke from ahead of you, “We’ll use the rain as cover and get close to Erwin.”
Small gasps left their mouths, they have totally forgotten their mission.
“Levi!” “Are we gonna do it bro?”
“Yeah. But it’d be suspicious if all three of us were to break away at once. I’ll go alone.”
You tsked and turned your head away from him, shaking it. He is so persistent to be independent all the damn time.
“True, it’s best not to carelessly move around.” Farlan stated.
“Alright fine, we’re counting on you bro! Go and secure our citizenship.” Isabel grinned widely, her teeth shining.
A terrible feeling was inside your chest, it was unexpected and hurt terribly. Something was bound to go wrong and you could feel it pierce your soul.
“If anyone asks, tell them I went to survey the terrain.” Levi gazed at you when he ended, noting the discomfort in your face.
“Y/N” The cool tone caught your attention as you looked to Levi, his eyes narrowing as he looked to you.
“Be safe.” Time slowed as he said this, this answered all your fears. Levi himself was terrified and he emitted it from his eyes, his eyes, they were so scared and vulnerable.
Time came back as he whipped the reigns of his horse and rode forwards, no..
“Levi!” You screamed as he turned his head to you.
“I love you!” You yelled as confidently as you could, his eyes and mouth visibly opening wide, his heart clenched with an igniting warmth. He snapped his head back forwards, he’d say those words when he returned, he had faith in your survival.
Levi’s figure disappeared into the fog as Isabel and Farlan gaped at you, a blush rushing to your cheeks when he never reciprocated it.
“Y/N..” You looked to them, they smiled at you “I’m sure bro loves you! How could he not?” Isabel exclaimed happily as you gave her a faint smile.
Minutes later from riding your hands shook lightly, gazing at your friends you sighed.
Then, Isabel was in the air, why was she in the air? But your eyes hadn’t registered the huge fleshy fingers gripping your close friend. Your eyes widened in fear as your mouth opened to scream for her, Farlan was beginning to unsheath his blades as he rose from his horse.
The titan brought your red headed friend to its mouth, why her? She was always so kind and optimistic. Her happiness always giving her hope in the darkness of this shitty world.
Tears pricked at your eyes as you watched it, watched the titan eat her small, fragile body. Blood, her blood, splattering yours and Farlans face.
“Isabel!” Your screams finally broke the trance you were in, unsheathing your blades and jumping off your horse. Tears streamed down your soft cheeks as you saw Isabels head fall to the floor and roll.
You screamed as you went behind the titan, slicing down its nape, slicing its arms, knees, hands, anything that was connected to the titan was gone or bloody.
Farlan fell to his knees with tears flowing down his face, looking down to Isabels mutilated head. Sobs wracked his bodily heavily as he moved the red hair from her bloody face.
A new titan came from where the other titan had come from, running at you. “Farlan!” You shouted madly as you crouched down quickly, shaking his shoulders violently as he sobbed.
“Farlan! We have to survive, for Levi!!” You screamed at him and kept shaking him, removing the hands from his eyes he stared at your confident look, slowly, he’d nod and shakily stand.
You shot your ODM at a tree and stared to the incoming titan, a hard scowl overcoming your features as you jumped up, grappling its arm.
The titan looked to you and his hand stuck out, you gasped and attempted to move out its way. But it’s hand had caught one of your legs, your eyes dilated as you watched your leg get crushed by the hands of a titan.
A scream left and echoed around you, your terrified and fearful screams.
Farlan came from behind the titan and sliced at its nape, stopping any further damage.
Grappling away quickly, fell to the ground as soon as you landed, your face was coated in filth. Mud and blood covered your body.
Sitting up, you groaned in pain as you looked ahead. Farlan was running to you, shouting for you to stay awake.
But, as there always is, was another titan, it was an abnormal as it ran over on its four limbs. Your eyesight was blurry, looking at Farlan infront of you. His worried gray orbs roaming over yours as you saw his mouth shout words at you.
“Titan..” you mustered out as Farlan spun around to see the abnormal, he was scared, upset, but mostly angry. Angry for the death of Isabel and Y/N’s injury, but more furious at his short life. Farlan was smart he knew he wouldn’t survive this one and it pained him but he’d fight for atleast Y/N to survive this.
He grappled off towards the titan, you watched with zero control. Pain sizzled up your leg and ignited your body in a fury of agony.
“Farlan!” You attempted to shout, reaching your hand out towards his retreating figure. He looked back at you and gave a smile, a smile at a time like this. You wailed loudly and slammed your fist into the dirt sobbing.
From the distance you heard the loud sobs and screams of Farlans last moments as the abnormal bit down on his abdomen, ending his suffering. There was silence but for the titan feasting on Farlan.
Your head hung downwards as wind blew through your hair, shutting your eyes as tears streamed down your face.
Clutching the grass around you, you went against your pain and pushed yourself up off the ground, resting your weight in your good leg.
Levi was in the distance, crouched infront of Isabels head. He hadn’t looked up as he stared at his red headed friend. ‘Y/N, Farlan. Where are they?” he thought painfully as he forced himself to look up.
He caught your standing figure staring at the abnormal, Farlans body dangling from its teethy grin. Levi’s eyes dilated and he immediately stood, unsheathing his blades he ran towards you and the titan.
The abnormal began to reach its hand out to you, it’s fingers unclenching and expanding to grab you.
Blood splattered your face, along with the ground thumping. The raven head stood infront of you with mutilated fingers behind him, his glossy eyes looked back at you and he shoved you.
Levi shoved you to the ground as you landed flat on your ass, you stared at him with an awestruck expression.
“Do not stand! I’ll kill it!” Levi yelled at you, your eyes darting to his hands. They shook violently before he ran towards the abnormal and grappled it.
You sat there like he had insisted you do, hair blew over your eyes as you surveyed the battlefield. Blood streaks littered the area and Isabel, oh Isabel. Farlans body was spit from the titans mouth as he thudded against the dirt, his eyes rolled to the back of his head and an intestine hung out his stomach.
Vomit come up your throat as you leaned over and hurled your morning breakfast, your body heaving as you fell onto your back, staring up at the gray sky. ‘Maybe it was like the undergound’ you pondered.
Far away were Levi’s shouts and screams as he sliced the titans whole body, so much so that the titans head flew off and rolled onto the ground, sputtering blood everywhere.
Blood poured out of every slice Levi had inflicted on the titan, he held no remorse for the monster as he sliced its hands clean off. Until finally, slicing its nape.
Levi landed and kneeled down, his black hair covering his eyes as he shook. He felt knees fall to the ground ahead of him and a hand touch his bloodied cheek.
His head snapped up and he was met with Y/N’s eyes, she rubbed his cheek tenderly. Staring at his dull gray eyes with love and vulnerability. Levi’s eyes glossed over as he was flushed with a wave of gratefulness, his true love lived through this hell.
“Levi... I’m here, I’m right here.”
Levi’s hands cupped your face and pulled you in quickly, your lips fusing together as your eyes fluttered shut. Tears leaked down your eyes as you moved your hands to the collar of his shirt, gripping it tightly.
Slowly he pulled back, your lips softly breaking apart as he rubbed away your tears with his thumbs.
“I love you too.”
don’t forget to follow :)

FULL REVIEWS: “Lost In Language”
Lost in language and I don't know much. Was I thinking aloud and fell out of touch? But I'm back on my feet and eager to be what you wanted.
Seriously? Nothing? You guys have never heard Air Supply? I mean, they’re old AF but still. It’s a funny pun. Whatever.
Back in the day (like it was so long ago) I didn’t know what to expect from this episode. The only thing I caught from the description was library, but hoo boy, we got so much more!
Tumblr media
I love the cold opens to this show. It always reminds me that Luz is a silly ass hyper fangirl who still wants life to play out like it does on TV.
Tumblr media
“Learning about love and life through the eyes of a child.”
Spoken like a true person who have never done any actual babysitting. The Bat Queen gets her own soft intro for another episode, which I’m noticing more and more re-watching this show. She pays Eda to watch her baby in exchange for a butt-ton of money. Eda, in classic Eda fashion, would rather not split the cash with Luz and gives her an errand to run so she doesn’t have to do it.
Tumblr media
I don’t know about you guys, but liked going to the library when I was a kid. It was the only way I could play computer games or go on the internet. Getting online is the easiest thing in the world today, but when I was a kid, it was a luxury my parents couldn’t afford. And dumb-dumb kid me didn’t know that you can borrow movies and comic for free at the library too. That’s how I saw Jaws for the first time.
The library at The Boiling Isles is almost exactly what I expected. Kinda like the Hogwarts library, but with a lot more teeth and eyes everywhere. Luz has a bunch of fun just messing around, until she stumbles upon the cutest goddamn thing ever!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amity reading to kids at the public library in her free time. My god.
Tumblr media
I’m with Luz here. Holy hell, I did not see that coming. I thought Amity was the rival character, the Draco Malfoy of the show, the reluctant ally, the jerk with the heart of gold DEEP in there somewhere. Instead she’s at the Kid’s Corner reading her favorite childhood classic to toddlers. I didn’t know there were angels in the demon realm.
Tumblr media
Stop. Stop! You’re already cute.
Seriously this moment made me go “aw” and laugh at the same time. It was weird. Also how does this library have a manga section? Do they import these books from JAPAN in the HUMAN REALM? Is there a publishing company that acts as the middleman? Or are these just the books that the trash slugs ended up barfing on the beach somewhere? I’m thinking too hard about a throwaway joke in the background. Big brain hurt.
Tumblr media
AND back to reality...
Luz tries to extend the hand of friendship to Amity and Amity rejects it. I have...thoughts.
First, they this up with another parallel to Azura in the beginning of the episode. I get it. It’s a theme that they are doing, but I would have rather have Luz try to befriend Amity because she wants to, not because Azura did it. It’s not the only reason she does it, but it does kinda bug me a bit. It kinda goes back to Luz wanting life to play out like a story.
Also, a part of me thinks that this is something Amity likes to do alone. Her way of getting away from everyone else and just do something that she enjoys and makes her feel good. We have no proof that it gives her extra credit, so she could just use that as a way to save face. She seemed so happy to do it too.
Finally, you know what this else this reminds me of? The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai. There’s a popular fan theory that has been around since the eighties that if you look at The Karate Kid from the rival’s perspective, the protagonist is the bully. I’m more than sure that’s what going on here. From Amity’s perspective, Luz just gets her into trouble. We’ll get more into that later.
Luz walks off dejected and we get the second big surprise to punch me in the face.
Tumblr media
Holy hell, why the fuck are you two so goddamn fucking pretty? I mean, holy shit, look at these two. My god. And ERICA LINDBECK as Emira? Jesus Christ, I’m going to be feeling things I shouldn’t be feeling in places I can’t say!
Joking aside, we get one of our first full introductions that didn’t come with a soft intro from a previous episode. Enter Emira and Emira, Amity’s older siblings who in true sibling fashion like to give Amity a hard time.
Tumblr media
“Hey, mittens!”
Tumblr media
This seems normal at first. Siblings always rib each other. No big deal.
Amity storms off. The twins introduce themselves proper to Luz (and the audience) and they mess around for a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, they have so much fun messing around with Luz that they decide to invite her back afterhours to check out The Wailing Star. Luz thinks that this is a great way to get on Amity’s good side by befriending her siblings. Why she would think this I have no idea.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile the B-plot continues its adventures in babysitting. I don’t like using the word filler (so I won’t) but this B-plot is really just for two things: setting up Escape of the Palisman and jokes. It does both. No harm, no foul.
Also the twins said for Luz to meet back at midnight and Luz was at The Owl House for like a hot second. There’s like a huge gap of time there. What did she do until midnight? Whatever. If it was important it would have been animated.
Also also, I love all of Luz’s little saying in this episode. She does it a lot but they cranked it up in this episode. Featuring great hits like:
“This sour lemon drop has a hidden sweet center.”
and
“I thought we were as cool as cucumbers but we’re as sour as pickles.”
and my favorite
“Call me a library book because they were checking me out.”
I hope they keep doing that.
Tumblr media
Back at the literal Wailing Star (I laughed so hard), The twins and Luz discover that The Wailing Star brings the content of the books to life. Does that work for all books in The Boiling Isles or just the library? Enough. No more big brain. The three proceed to...mess around some more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The twins discover offscreen (Really? Really.) that if you edit the contents of the book, you change what comes to life. Then the twins reveal their true objectives. Apparently, Amity has been tattling on the twins whenever they cut class or do whatever it is that they want. They’ve decided to look for her secret little hideaway (that they somehow know is in the library), find her diary and post all the pages all over school to teach her a lesson.
Um, fucking no.
Tumblr media
And here we enter the true lesson of this episode and probably the reason why Hecate is draw with two faces. People being more than just what they appear to be at face value.
Amity appears to be the bully character of the show, and while she did bully Willow, Luz and King, there’s more to her than that. Amity is lonely. As a fellow person who grew up lonely, trust me. I can tell from a mile away. She puts pressure on herself to be the best at whatever she’s doing and to be the best. She hates that she follows the rules but people like her siblings seem to get rewarded for breaking the rules and doing whatever they want free of consequence. She sees the double standard that they live by and it angers her. But at the same time, everyone seems to give the twins a free pass so she can’t do anything about it.
Even worse, there’s no one for her to confide in. It wouldn’t make it better but it would make it easier for her to just vent and get the bullshit out of her brain. She doesn’t like her friends and the one friend she did like...that’s for another episode. Hence, the diary. Amity is a big ball of frustration and loneliness. I know because I grew up in a very similar way.
When you’re forced to keep your anger inside you, you lash out at any little thing that bothers you just to ease your frustrations. It doesn’t make it okay but it’s the only way to cope sometimes just to get by.
The twins on the other hand seem like everything you’d want in a friend. They’re fun; they like you; they’re attractive; they’re attentive. But in reality, they live in a world where they believe consequences and accountability don’t apply to them. And they’ll do anything to keep it that way. Even humiliate their sister.
Luz seems like a happy-go-lucky, friends to all things kinda person, but she can also be innocently insensitive. She just does things hoping they turn out the way they would for Azura without considering how the people around her would feel about it.
It doesn’t make any of these characters two-faced. We just are different things to different people.
Tumblr media
Amity discovers what’s going down and Luz (being the empathic person that she is) decide to try to go talk to her.
Then I’m reminded that this is a horror-comedy.
Tumblr media
My god, you’re ugly.
Tumblr media
One climax later (don’t laugh), and Luz and Amity try to make amends with each other. They both have to think about how they’ve been treating the other, earning the title of bully or not. They’re not friends yet but this is...better.
FINAL SCORE: 5 - Loved it.
Damn, The Owl House is one a roll. That’s what? Three 5 scored episodes already? Hot damn. This episode was fun but it really hit hard with the character work on Amity. She quickly became one of the most interesting characters and a fan favorite. And the third act provided a good amount of horror to call this a horror comedy. The B-plot is fine but probably one of the weakest only saved by several funny jokes. This is one of those episodes I kept coming back to and a favorite to watch.
Tumblr media
Could you two please not? I’m gonna get in trouble.
